Gift Box Structures Compared: Lid & Base, Magnetic, Book-Style & Drawer

Time:10.22.2026 Views: 0

Gift box quotes often differ not because of material cost, but because the wrong structure was chosen. Start with product size, weight and unboxing experience, then discuss printing.

1. Lid & base

A classic two-piece structure with a friendly cost and a strong unboxing feel. Good for gifts, cosmetics and food. It takes more volume, so shipping cost is slightly higher.

2. Magnetic box

Flip-top magnetic closure with a premium hand-feel. Magnet placement and greyboard thickness determine the feel, so open and close the sample yourself.

3. Book-style box

Opens like a book, ideal for sets, commemorative items and IP gift boxes. Inner pages, card slots and layered structures are possible.

4. Drawer box

A sliding structure for jewelry and small gifts. Confirm drawer smoothness and stopping structure during sampling.

5. Inserts

EVA, foam, flocking, paper trays and fabric lining, selected by product shape and protection needs. Thicker is not always better; fit and ease of removal matter more.

6. Surface finishes

Foil, UV, embossing, debossing and lamination. Lock the structure and insert first, then choose finishes, so the structure does not lose strength for visual effect.

7. Common traps

  • Choosing from renderings without a physical structural sample.
  • Inserts not tooled to the product, causing movement in transit.
  • Poor magnet placement, so the box does not close tightly.

Send the product size, weight and quantity for a structural proposal. Hengyi Culture runs its own packaging factory in Dongguan, with MOQ from 500 pcs, 5-day sampling and FSC-certified paper.
